Hi again, Here are some pictures of another way of working with volumes. Perhaps some of you will be disappointed cause it’s not automotive related….. in fact it is highly related if you consider the importance of understanding volumes and how they interact. I’ve started figurative sculpture only two months ago and it’s like a new life. Portrait sculpting is the most difficult way of sculpting, if you move any feature half a millimetre away, the whole face will look different. It‘s an excellent exercise, now I feel very confident in other situations where you have to develop a complicated or very subtle surface. I’m sure the results on styling clay studies will be very positive. Did anybody have other experiences than sculpting automotive models ? Steve do you know other automotive sculptors who have this kind of background ? Can it be considered as an advantage on a résumé for somebody who wants to create models in the design industry ( I'm especialy interested in models sculpting in the very early stages of design development, when pure creativity is the main goal. I don’t know the word in English, “sketches sculpting” maybe ) ? By the way this portrait is made from a living model, using water-based clay. It's far from perfect but my mother is proud haha ;D See you Seb

Hi Seb, Very nice work, you will find within the automotive community a lot of fellow sculptors with a fine arts degree. In fact the majority of automotive producers would encourage their sculpting personnel to take additional classes in almost any art based study. Check out this link of an art exhibition in Japan by Automotive Sculptors. www.autoclaymodellersworld.com/Fader.htmlAll the art was made from automotive clay, so the answer to your question is, anyone with an artistic back ground or has a natural ability can make it in the automotive field. Opportunity is all that is required and the rest is up to the individual. Steve.

Very nice work Seb! You obviously have natural talent.
One of our modeler's hobby is figurative sculpture, he is extremely talented at both, sculpting figures & automotive models....he is our best modeler hands down. He has no degree, it's all natural talent.
So when Steve mentions natural ability and having the opprotunity, it's no BS!
Keep it up, you are headed in the right direction....if you ever move to the US, give me the first chance to offer you a position!! ;D

Hey guys, Thanks a lot for the kind words. It really feels like a new step, since a month I’m not afraid by any complex volume. It’s just the beginning, there’s plenty of room for improvement. Now I need to surround myself with the good environment that will allow to reach my best potential. Good to have your support. See ya next time with a more automotive piece. Thank you. ;D Seb

Hey MasterModeler, Is that invitation open to all us newbies and what company are we talking about. Like, lets spread the wealth. It's not often that there's talk about an apprenticeship in the South Land.
